January 10-15 Ft. Myers

I forget to mention that we saw lots of dolphins on our way to Ft. Myers. Many followed our boat for quite a ways. Judy must be singing the right songs to them . They like that. Last night we were invited to our friends John and Gail's boat,Our Time, for dinner and cocktails at sunset. Also Skinwalker and Loriel were there. Legacy Harbor is a great marina. Many people bring their boat here for the winter and stay here. Floating docks, cable TV and a Publix grocery store 2 blocks away. Also downtown with many restaurants only 4 blocks away. Today Judy and I went to the local farmers market. We had just stocked up at the grocery so we didn't need much. However I bought Judy a dozen Roses for $5. She claims it is the fourth flower bouquet I have bought her in 42 years. Tonight, Thursday is a potluck dinner for all people in the marina. Judy took goulash (her secret recipe) to the dinner. Dinner held at the tiki bar, a very nice open area, and the warm temperature added to the great evening. On Saturday there is a marina dinghy excursion 6 miles up the River to the Orange River to see the manatees. I get my diminutive 2.5 hp motor and dinghy out thinking that if I leave an hour early the rest of the members with their 10, 15, and 25 hp motors will arrive about the same time. It is not running right and I suspect the gas is getting old. Any way I tell Judy we shouldn't plan on going to see the manatees. The wind is blowing pretty good so I don't think she was too disappointed. Tonight Friday, we invite John & Gail (Our Time) over for dinner to our boat. The day before we learned John has to return home on Saturday for some medical tests. Our prayers are with them. They will not be able to return until after Feb 1 so maybe they will catch up with us later. We certainly hope so. Saturday, Jan 12, I get the foldie bike out and do a little exploring. You can cover a lot of territory on a bike. I go to the gas station with my gas can strapped on my bike and get a new tank of high test gas and now the dinghy motor runs great. Saturday night all the loopers in this marina and the city marina, a couple of blocks away, have a dinner & snack get together. About 30 people in attendance. Too many boats to mention. Sunday was spent watching football--Colts lost. On Monday Judy and I walk downtown and to the grocery to replenish odds and ends and have lunch. We eat too much for lunch so dinner tonight is very light. Tuesday is another great day. Lunch at the nearby restaurant. same story-we eat too much for lunch so we have warm ups for dinner tonight. I take another long bike ride this afternoon to get lots of exercise. The pump out for the holding tank is located at the dock so that business is taken care of before our planned departure in the morning. The picture above is of diver Ron before descending to put the new props on.
