We are in West End on Grand Bahama Island (click 0n West End to see a map). West End is on the very western tip of Grand Bahama Island. It is a very small town. I got the foldie out and rode 2 miles to what was purported to be a grocery store. Very sparse just a few of the essentials and the shelves were pretty bare. We have been told the homemade Bahamian bread was delicious and they did have a whole rack of that so I purchased 2 loaves. Didn't see any meat so I asked and a young boy took me to the back room and opened a chest style freezer that had a few bags of frozen meat--any cold meat I asked-yep just come over here to the refrigerator so I bought some sliced ham. $8.75-two loaves of homemade bread, a bottle of dish soap + the cold meat-not too bad in the mind of this newbie grocery shopper. Yesterdays rather rough crossing was an excuse for a layday. Northerly wind blowing a little brisk but we decided to stay in port. The weather is nice and warm. Our Time invited us for dinner and cocktails. It turned out to be a genuine Pirates party. Judy and I didn't have a costume but John is always prepared. Pictured above is Mike & Janice Murphy on the left and John & Gail. Mike & Janice are travelling with John & Gail for a few weeks. That night a local lady appeared on the dock selling bread. I can't turn down raisin bread. We are now well supplied with bread.
