Today we are off to anchor downriver in lower Broad Creek and also rejoin the ICW. The weather is predicted to be nice for the next week. So Mark & Sue, which by the way retired here from Decatur almost 3 years ago, and have no schedule, decide to take a trip on their sailboat perhaps to Cape Lookout. We both head for our planned destination down river where we will rendezvous, anchor, and they will dinghy over to our boat and join us for dinner. The trip to the anchorage of some 30 miles is easy and uneventful. The Neuse is wide and relatively deep and very few navigational markers. The chart is plotted on the GPS, the autopilot is turned on and we don't touch the steering wheel until just before entering the anchorage. Just look for other boats, glance at the depth sounder and sit back and enjoy the River slip by. Arrival time at the anchorage was 2pm. I lowered the dinghy and did some exploring of the nearby area. The area is beautifully isolated, but a new housing development is being built closeby along with a marina and a deep water bay which was all man made. Sue & Mark pictured on our boat. Steak, chicken, salad & desert was a hearty meal for us blowboaters and stinkpotters.
