After our underwater collision I made some telephone calls to Marina's that would be able to haul us out of the water and repair our damage. One of the calls was to Town Creek Marina-the young lady said they they were closed on Monday and said could I have it repaired on Tuesday?-I said no it couldn't wait and I thanked her and said I would find someone else-she said oh no don't hang up let me have the owner call you in a few minutes and he did- I knew then I found the right place. So the boat was pulled on Monday and the damage was visible and also not so apparent. The boat yard is small but the workerbee's are experts, although just a little hard to understand with their North Carolina drawl. It turned out the starboard prop was damaged beyond repair. Also the strut (hangs from the bottom of the boat and the propeller shaft runs through it) was bent, as well as the 2" stainless steel shaft. Steve the owner at Town Creek staged the repair process in admirable fashion bringing all the pieces together and assigning his workers when necessary to bring the repair together. As always there will be problems and not everyone works with the same urgency that we would like. As for the weather it has been very nasty and not conducive to travel, so we didn't feel so bad. Anyway with Steve, the owner of Town Creek marina, pushing the repair project along we finally got in the water on Friday(7th). Tomorrow the 8th, the final adjustments will take place and a sea trial will be performed to make sure there are no vibrations and all systems are go. The Marina has a courtesy car so we know the town well and the cupboard is well stocked.
