March 26-27 Naples & Little Shark River

The weather looks great so we plan to travel to Naples some 70 miles away via the Ocean.  We will travel a few miles to Charlotte Harbor where we enter the Gulf of Mexico through the Boca Grande Pass.  An absolutely delightful day on the Gulf.  Emerald Green water and waves less than a foot.  After entering Gordons Pass at Naples we turned left into the second bay and set anchor.  A delightful evening

Up early to weigh anchor at first light and on to the Little Shark River which is in The Everglades at the southwestern tip of the Florida mainland.  Another trip of some 70 miles.  We could have traveled inland to Marco Island and then out in the Gulf but we chose to travel the Gulf route knowing it would be somewhat windy and rougher.  Both were true.  Mostly 2-3' waves with a four or five footer thrown in quite often to bounce us around a little.  The waves were on our bow so overall it was a good ride.  Arrival time at the Shark River was about no-seeum time. (mosquitoes you can't see but you sure can feel them bite) so it didn't take long to close up the boat and start the air conditioner.
