November 17

November 17 Dog River Marina--Still at Dog River Marina on Mobile Bay. By the way Mobile is almost 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Dog River is a popular Marina for other loopers. Lots of loopers here. Weather is great. A little chilly at night. This marina is a bit of nostalgia for Judy and myself. Several years ago we flew to Mobile and Dog River marina to cross the Gulf of Mexico with a fleet of 40' Formula boats led by Chris & Vic Porter the owner of Formula. Since then the Marina was almost destroyed by Katrina but has been rebuilt and is in good shape now. We took on 130 gallons of fuel. On Monday all of us will fly home to be home for the holidays. Silver Foxes will get a little bit of preventative maintenance done while we are gone. We will return on the 29th to continue our journey eastward & southward. Again I will let you know when we are back on the air. Update- 2728 statute miles traveled. 315 engine hours. 1566 gallons of fuel used. --1.74 mpg-- 4.97 gal of fuel per hour--

Well Jim, your boat is docked not far from my house. I live about 35 miles ESE of Mobile. I was fishing in the Tensaw last Wednesday and had Verizon phone reception all the way up river to the I-65 bridge. But I have noticed in this area, not unlike other areas, there are some places where there is absolutely no signal.
