The Potomac narrows as we head to Washington. It is probably 4 0r 5 miles wide at the entrance to one or two miles wide as we proceed upriver. The day is very hazy and there is very little wind. Temp about 75. Our destination is Mattawoman Creek, an anchorage off of the Potomac. Very few houses along the River. One thing stands out along the shoreline and that is the Quantico Marine Military base & FBI academy. As we go buy we wave to Matt's (Son-In-Law) instructors at the Academy. Just a short year ago he was attending a special FBI school at the Academy. After arriving at Mattawoman Creek we proceed up the Creek to the suggested anchorage. The path is fraught with weeds, and our depth sounder alarm sounds continuously, probably because it is reading the weeds on the bottom. Our Time is following some distance behind and I radio him and tell him I am turning around so we can find a deeper spot to anchor. We do find a nice spot, not so deep into the Creek, but there are a lot of bass boats whizzing around. Must be practicing for a weekend fishing tournament. Very quiet evening. No wind. The tide here is only about 2', so there is not much current. Judy fixes stir fry on the grill after cocktails on Our Time.
