May 29 Elizabeth City NC

As we arose today at 6:15 am all of the boats were departing from the Elizabeth City docks to head for the Dismal Swamp Canal South Mills Lock that marks the beginning of the Canal. We plan to stay here to as our friends from Our Time are scheduled to arrive today. We move the boat over to the City docks picking out a slip width (15') that will accommodate Silver Foxes. Soon after settling in the mayor made his rounds to welcome the boaters but since we were the only boat here he visited with us at length. Elizabeth City is normally the city of wine and roses. Usually the ladies are given a rose upon their arrival and a wine and cheese party for all the boaters is given in the evening. The mayor apoligized and said the people that normally do this wouldn't be available today. Told him no problem we just appreciated the hospitality of the city. Later the local grocery store sent one of their workerbees to pick us up so we could reprovision. Our Time arrived as we returned from the grocery. After they got settled in we had drinks and then hamburgers on the grill on their boat
