Wink & Wilma on the trawler John Henry have invited a bunch of us to go fishing out in the ocean on Sunday. John T's and my assignment for the adventure was to catch the baitfish for the trip. The fish are beside our boat. The problem is we didn't have any bait to catch the baitfish. Anyway after some experimenting and a lesson from Wink we used some very tiny hooks, cheese and bread and soon had our supply of 8-10" Key West Grunts. The water is so clear you can see the bait and the fish bite the hook. We soon had our assigned quota. The fishing trip took place in seas about as calm as the Ocean ever gets. No one got sick. Some people didn't even fish as witnessed by the picture of the ladies on the bridge. A total of 18 grouper were caught. The writer of this blog went zip in the catching department but it was great fun. Fresh grouper was fixed on the grill that evening.
The next adventure was a sailing trip on a real sailboat. Not quite a virgin sailboater, as Judy and I have sailed many moons ago on our friends Max and Judy's sailboat. Judy wasn't feeling up to par today so I went without her. We went on Tally Ho owned by Andrew and Vanessa Benjamin. Vanessa fixed lots of great food for lunch. Nice sail towards our luncheon anchorage. A small rain shower calmed the wind and we were wind challenged coming home but we made it at a very leisurely pace of anywhere from 1-4 knots. It was a great afternoon and the leisurely pace coming home made the trip more enjoyable. Vanessa is in the dinghy using a glass bottom viewing bucket. The bucket makes the bottom appear crystal clear. The depth is anywhere from 7-15'
