On Sundays the school bus picks us up to take it St. Frances DeSales Catholic Church. As I described in the blog last year it is a delightful experience. The church is very lively and lots of singing(every verse and refrain) and the greeting at the sign of peace takes at least 10 minutes. Anyway the bus quit a couple of 100 yards from the church and about 3 miles from the Marina(home). Out we piled. A taxi came along and picked up the girls but the fellows along with some of the locals were picked up in a pickup truck by another local. He was on his way to another church service so we piled into his pickup. He dropped us off at the only stoplight in town and we hoofed it the last mile home.
Much against my better judgement I went to play Bingo on Thursday afternoon. Several good things happened. I could set at the bar to play, the drinks were half price, and I ended up winning $45 even though I didn't say Bingo when I won. After that was amateur talent night in the restaurant. What talent there is. The gal that tends bar would put any contestant on American Idol to shame. The cook has a terrific voice and our Commodore does an amazing imitation of Elvis. Others contributed equally well to the evening's entertainment. Afterwards dancing took place. It was so successful it looks like it will be a weekly event.
We went with John & Gail to ManOWar Cay. After successfully finding a mooring ball we launched the dinghy and had lunch at local restaurant overlooking the anchorage and bay. A short walk through the narrow streets including a visit to the hardware store pictured above.
