In the Bahamas, Cay is pronounced Key. If you recall, I mentioned Bimini was out in the middle of nowhere Well it is 98 miles across the wide open Exuma Bank to our next speck of land which is in the Berry Islands and it is called Chub Cay. The wind is fairly calm so we have a great trip across the relatively shallow (20') but clear water. 98 miles, that is a long way for us slow moving trawlers but we pick up the pace a little and arrive at the anchorage just outside of Chub. A very nice evening with little wind and that is good because there is not much protection from the wind in most any direction. However in the night the wind picks up from the south and our pleasant night was interrupted by swells coming in off of the Tongue of the Ocean which is a deep body of water next to Chub Key.
Our original plan was to travel to Allans Cay some 85miles the next day after arriving at Chub. However after a short nights sleep, the decision was recalled and it was decided to stop at Nassau which was only 45 miles away. A very pleasant ride to Nassau. 2 foot waves on the starboard quarter. We arrived in Nassau about 3pm. Lots of Cruise ships in port. You must call in to Port Control before you can enter the Port. Our destination marina was the Nassau Harbor Club. $2 per foot per day vs $7 per foot at the plush Atlantis

Dinner at the Poop Deck just down the street. Lots of Security guards around. The area looks okay but they warn us not to stray at night There is a shopping center right across the street from the Marina. Breakfast at Starbucks and fast internet. Also bought extra time for our phones and a case of Kalik beer. Surprise-- the girls did not even visit the grocery store, but I did. I bought some limes for the Kalik and a steak to fix on the grill when we arrive at Allans Cay.

Very interesting how big of a difference $5 a foot can be when you add it all up!
