Every night is party night at Mallory Square which is a short walk from our boat. The various street performers start performing about 5pm and continue on until past sunset which is about 6:15pm this time of year. Above is a picture of the most famous of all the street performers, The Cat Man. He trains cats (impossible if you have ever had a cat). He even had one of his cats jump through a hoop of fire! There were also the usual array of fire eaters, jugllers, Houdini wannabes, as well as a couple of guys that stood upside down on the top of an extension ladder. All pause from the action to watch the sunset and take pictures. After the sunset, there is always a round of applause. The weather has been fantastic. Highs in the seventies. Some evenings you need a jacket and some evenings not. Judy and I have taken numerous walks up Duvall St. Our rule is not to eat in the same restaurant more than once. One of our first visits was to the Schooner Wharf Bar. It has lots of local flavor and sits right on the water directly across from our boat. Judy and I visited the bar the first afternoon we were here. As we sat at the bar numerous dogs wend their way thru the stone covered outside floor whereupon sits many tables for the bar patrons. Meanwhile back at the bar we were joined by a couple with a small dog. The dog put its paws on the bar and the bartendress gave him a few treats! Live music starts at noon and plays until midnight. Quite enjoyable from our boat.
Jay DeVoss and his wife Susan formerly of Decatur live here in the historical district in a neat little house (all houses here are small) they have remodeled. They invited us for dinner on Wednesday evening. Jay cooked grouper on his grill in his tropical garden like setting. We had a great time as we swapped old stories and the return to the boat did not occur until 1am. I forgot my camera that evening so I do not have pictures of the evening
