The channel markers are a good place for the Osprey to build their nests. No land creatures to bother them. In order to pass through some shallow areas of the ICW at high to mid tide we pulled away from the Jekyll Island Marina, along with Great Expectations, at 7 am about 30 minutes before high tide. One of the shallowest areas of the Georgia ICW is Jekyll Creek which is just north of our departure point. Gypsy Time, another looper boat passed through this area yesterday at nearly low tide and measured 4' of water, so he just barely slithered through. It won't be a problem for us as we have seven more feet of tidewater at this time. Our planned destination was Duprin Creek some 30 miles away but we got such a good push from the tidal current that we decided to press on to Walburg creek some sixty miles away. The anchorage was good but the entrance was a little tenuous as we passed over a 5' shoal at low tide about 3pm before the water deepened and we anchored in 20' of water. Current was swift here but our anchor with 100' of chain, held us in place. Gypsy Time joined us at anchor. We had to close the doors tonight because the no see ums seemed to find us. Light winds today and pleasant temperatures
