March 15- arrival at Cape Haze Florida

Lands End II and Silver Foxes neatly tucked in to their docks at Mitch and Barbs House
Departing Ft.  Myers it is some 17 miles down the Caloosahatchee River where a right turn heads up through  Charlotte Harbor and a really neat anchorage in Pelican Bay at Cayo Costa State Park.  There was some concern about the water depth upon entrance to the park but by hugging "the sign" we saw no less than 7' of water.  After a peaceful night at anchor, a dinghy ride ashore the next morning took us to the State Park -$2 entrance fee honor system- and in short order we were in a "tram" headed to the seven mile beach on the Gulf of Mexico and a great walk on the beach.

Mitch & Barb were waiting for us as we arrived  after clearing the 3:30 pm Boca Grande causeway swing bridge.  Some of you may recall, Judy and I helped Mitch and Barb in October of 2009, deliver their newly purchased 42' Ocean Alexander from Cincinnati Oh to their home in Cape Haze Fl which is just south of Englewood.  They have  a beautiful home which overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway.  Silver Foxes slipped gently into the dock next to their boat.  Mitch and Barb have prior commitments so our earliest departure for the Exumas will be March 26th -weather permitting.  Besides Mitch has some projects to finish on his boat which he wants me to help him with.

We moved into their home.  It was good to be on land again.  Lands End is the name of their home-hence the appropriate name of Lands End II for their boat name
One of the many enjoyable dinners at Mitch & Barbs House
